This year, I give you Joy

I forgot to tell you guys something. And since it’s better late than never…
Happy New Year!
I don’t really do the resolution thing, but I have decided to get to know you better this year so what better way than to start giving you stuff?
Yes, I think that’ll work.
It starts with this handy kitchen calendar. Actually, you can put it wherever you want to because it’s technically a desk calendar. But you can figure that out later.
It’s a sampling of tips from the Joy of Cooking, a book that has been chronicling American cuisine since the Great Depression. Eight editions have been published, the last was a 75th Anniversary edition in 2006.

This little calendar has tear away pages full of helpful hints, recipes and detailed strategies on everything from pancake making to liquid measuring conversions (i.e. 60 drops = 1 teaspoon). I found it in the clearance bins at Barnes & Noble over the holidays. And I thought it’d be a great gift for anyone with any interest in food. That’s you. =)
Anyway, if you’d like to have this 2010 Joy of Cooking desk calendar just share your New Year’s goals, dreams and resolutions with me. You can leave them in the comments section below or click up there to the right or click right here to email me your aspirations for this new year. I’ll be sharing mine in next Monday’s post and announcing the winner. You’ve got until Friday at 11:59 p.m. I can’t wait to read them.

Mostly, my goals for 2010 are simple. I would like to live in the same house as my husband, better yet, the same country. Starting graduate school this summer seems like a pretty good goal. I think something fun, like travel to Spain or Hawaii. As far as fitness goes, it might be cool to do a full metric century. And finally, Tigh and I hope that we will be able to increase our family members by one this year. Love you!

Have a baby. Move out of Florida. Stop eating fast food, completely (I’ve lost the taste for it, thankfully).

I don’t do formal New Year’s resolutions, either. 🙂 I make ’em up as I go along throughout the year.

I know the entry time has passed. I just wanted to share anyway.
