    Grateful: Day 7, The Right to Vote

        It’s election day. I have the right to vote and I’m going to use it. I fit into two categories of people who weren’t always allowed to participate in this country: blacks  and  women. This afternoon, I’m heading straight to the polls to exercise my right and I’m grateful for that. To read this series from the beginning, go here.

    Grateful: Day 6, This Guy…

    That’s me on the left. And my husband is on the right. We’ve been married for a little more than 2 years now and I still have a crush on him. I won’t get too mushy, although I could. Ya know…some things you just gotta keep to yourself. But I will say he’s a good man. He’s genuine and honest and makes me laugh at the most unexpected moments with his antics. He’s always helping me with the children, the chores and with my life in general. He’s a true partner and I’m grateful for that. To read this series from the beginning, start here.

    Grateful: Day 5, Sunday Mornings

    It’s the start of a new week. I’m grateful for the opportunity to reset and begin again. Sunday mornings include quality time with my family. It’s the one day we all come together for breakfast. I often make a BIG one, too. It includes French toast and sausage or bacon, eggs and grits served up family style along with conversations about the week ahead. I help the girls get ready, grooming hair and tweaking their clothes. Then, we head to church where the true tweaking takes place.
